Love Actually 2?! Well Sort Of.

Hold on to your hats - there is going to be a sequel to Love Actually. Kind of.

A short reunion film is being shot for TV by Richard Curtis, the writer-director of the beloved 2003 feature, for Britain's Comic Relief Red Nose Day Special.

Cast members revisiting their roles from the romantic comedy include Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy and Rowan Atkinson.

Emma Thompson has not been mentioned and Alan Rickman, who played her unfaithful husband, died in 2016

The 10-minute "special sketch'' is from Curtis, who promises it will be "very much in the spirit of the original film and of Red Nose Day.''

The Red Nose Day Special will screen in the UK on March 24 and in the US on NBC on May 24. It's not known when or if the show will hit New Zealand screens.

Curtis has previously written spin offs for hits including Blackadder and Mr Bean, The Guardian reported.

"I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to Love Actually, but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to. Who has aged best? I guess that's the big question … or is it so obviously Liam?," he was quoted as saying.

"We've been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part – and it'll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and recreating their characters 14 years later."
